Treatments

Acupuncture

The initial acupuncture session typically begins with a thorough consultation, during which Amanda will ask about your health history, current symptoms, lifestyle, and any concerns you might have. This helps her understand your condition holistically and tailor the treatment to your specific needs. After the consultation, she will talk you through the process, when it comes time for needle insertion, most people feel minimal discomfort during the insertion of the needles. Some may experience a light tingling, warmth, or a dull ache around the needle sites. This is often a sign that the energy in your body is beginning to shift. Depending on what you have decided, in some cases, once the needles are in place, you'll be left to relax for 20-30 minutes. During this time, you may feel deeply relaxed or even fall asleep. Some practitioners may use additional techniques, such as moxibustion (the gentle warming of acupuncture points with a dried herb) or electroacupuncture (a mild electrical current passed through the needles) to enhance the effects of the treatment. After the allotted time, the acupuncturist will remove the needles. Most people feel a sense of calm or lightness after the session, and some may experience relief from pain or discomfort.

Combination Session

In her combination sessions, Amanda intuitively blends a variety of healing modalities, including Acupuncture, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Reflexology, Reiki, Lomi Lomi, Shiatsu, Deep Tissue, and more, to create a deeply holistic healing experience. By tuning into the body’s unique needs, she carefully selects the techniques that will encourage the free flow of energy, restoring balance and harmony while creating space for profound healing.

Facial Microneedling

A microneedling session for the face typically begins with a consultation, where the practitioner will assess your skin type, concerns, and goals to ensure microneedling is the right treatment for you. This session is designed to stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture, tone, and appearance by creating tiny micro-injuries on the skin’s surface.

Here’s what you can expect during the session:

1. Preparation: First your skin will be cleansed to ensure a clean surface prior to the application of a topical numbing cream to your face, which takes about 20-30 minutes to take effect. This helps ensure that the procedure is comfortable and minimizes any discomfort during treatment.

2. Microneedling: Once the numbing cream has set, the practitioner uses a specialized microneedling device (a small pen-like tool with fine needles) to create controlled micro-injuries on the surface of your skin. The device is gently moved over your face, typically in a grid pattern, to target areas with concerns like fine lines, acne scars, or uneven skin texture.

3. Sensation: While the procedure may feel slightly prickly or like a mild scratching sensation, the numbing cream helps reduce discomfort. Some areas of the face may be more sensitive than others, but the process is generally well-tolerated.

4. Serum Application: After microneedling, a hydrating or rejuvenating serum is often applied to your skin. Because your skin has been micro-punctured, it absorbs the serum more effectively, enhancing its benefits.

Cranial Sacral

CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.

Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system.

By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a more focused type of massage therapy that aims to release areas of tension, or “knots,” in the deeper levels of musculature.  It is generally used to target a specific area of pain, stiffness or reduced function, primarily by breaking down adhesions that often form as a response to injury.

Some of the conditions for which deep tissue massage may be helpful include: fibromyalgia, sports or other injuries to muscles such as strains, sprains or pulls; pain from osteoarthritis or other bone conditions; or repetitive motion injuries, including carpal tunnel syndrome.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone massage is a form of massage therapy that uses specialized stones called basalt stones.  These stones hold heat, helping to create a deep tissue massage to work tight, knotted muscles and release tension. Hot stone massage is relaxing and is known to have some health benefits.

Placing and kneading hot stones over muscles helps increase an area’s circulation and blood flow to stimulate healing to painful or damaged muscles. Hot Stone massage promotes relaxation along with aiding the body's removal of built up toxins.

Prenatal Massage

Massage therapy during pregnancy is a wonderful complementary choice for prenatal care. It is a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness. Massage relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such

as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches and edema (or swelling). In addition, massage reduces stress on weightbearing joints, encourages blood and lymph circulation, helps to relax nervous tension-which aids in better sleep-and can

help relieve depression or anxiety caused by hormonal changes. It is safe for a women to start receiving massage from 12 weeks right up to delivery!

Most of the massage is done in the sideline position with supportive, soft cushions which alleviates the extra strain on the lower back and pelvic areas when the pressure of massage techniques are applied. Extra strain in these areas can cause unnecessary back pain and discomfort. Depending on where you are in your pregnancy, your therapist may utilize such massage techniques as Swedish

massage or certain techniques that address your specific requests and needs.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a holistic medicine practice that involves massaging the feet. Practitioners maintain that the areas they massage contain reflex points that form a map of the body, and by using finger and thumb massage techniques, they achieve results in corresponding body parts or organs. Holistic medicine promotes healing with little use of surgical procedures or drugs.

The benefits of reflexology have been seen as lower stress levels, pain relief, lower blood presure and lower cholestrol.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese word, which means “universal life force energy.” Plants, animals and all humans need universal life force energy for living, growing, and healing. It surrounds us in our daily lives. Since conception, humans have the ability to take in and/or release this energy within and throughout their being. However, problems in one’s life such as: difficult family background, school, work, environment, and but not limited to physical weaknesses can cause a block in the flow of energy. A decreased flow of life force energy results in dis-ease and a slower healing process.

In a Reiki session the therapist will place hands over the body to allow the energy within the body to recharge and balance.  A typical reiki session is one hour.

Considerations...

Any open skin lesions or wounds should not be massaged.  In times of illness it is best for the body to rest, so if you are sick with a contagious condition please reschedule your appointment for when you are well.
